Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply when you use this website, ask us for a quotation or have us lay your floor.
About these terms
These terms apply when you use this website and when you ask us for a quotation or for work. "We", "us" and "our" means K&B Screeding Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 12298780, registered office 284 Lynch Hill Lane, Slough, SL2 2PU. "You" means the person or business we are quoting or working for.
If your written quotation or a contract we have signed with you says something different from these terms, the quotation or contract applies.
If you are a consumer (buying for yourself rather than for a business), nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Using this website
The information on this website, including our blog, is general guidance about screeding. It is not a substitute for advice about your own floor, which depends on things we can only judge from your drawings, a site visit or the details you send us.
Prices shown on this website are published UK market figures, named and dated where they appear. They are not quotations from us. Our screed calculator gives estimates only.
We may update or remove content at any time. Links to other websites are for your information; we are not responsible for their content.
The text, photographs and videos on this website belong to us unless stated otherwise. Please ask before reusing them.
Quotations
We aim to call back the same day and to send a written quotation within 24 hours of receiving the details we need.
Each quotation sets out the work, the price and the payment terms. It is a fixed price for the work it describes, based on the information you have given us or that we have gathered on a site visit, and it is valid for the period stated on it.
If the job turns out to be different from what was described, for example a larger area, a greater depth, harder access or a base that needs extra preparation, we will explain the difference and agree any change to the price with you in writing before that part of the work goes ahead.
Your contract with us
A contract is made when you accept our written quotation, by signing it, by confirming it in writing (email or message is fine) or by asking us to start the work it describes.
We will agree a date for the work with you. We will tell you as soon as possible if weather, access, delays by other trades or circumstances outside our control mean the date has to move.
What we need from you
To lay your floor on the agreed day, we need:
- safe access to the work area and somewhere for our equipment and, for a pumped screed, the mixer lorry to stand;
- the area ready as agreed in the quotation, for example clear of other trades, weathertight where the screed needs it, and with any underfloor heating pipes fitted and pressure tested by your heating engineer;
- accurate information about the floor, including the finished floor level and anything we should know about the base;
- any permissions the work needs, such as building control approval or a parking suspension.
If we cannot start or finish on the agreed day because these are not in place, we will talk to you about a new date, and any extra costs this causes will be agreed with you in writing.
Drying, testing and floor coverings
A new screed needs time to dry before most floor coverings go down. How long depends on the screed, its depth and the drying conditions on site. We will tell you when the floor can be walked on, when any underfloor heating can be started and how the screed should be tested before your flooring is laid.
Please follow that advice and the flooring manufacturer's requirements. Laying floor coverings before the screed has been tested and found dry enough can cause problems such as lifting, staining or debonding that are not caused by a defect in our work.
Payment
Payment terms, including when payments are due, are set out in your written quotation. We will not ask for any payment that is not set out there or agreed with you in writing.
Your right to cancel (consumers)
If you are a consumer and the contract is made away from our business premises (for example at your home) or at a distance (for example by phone, email or message), you have the right to cancel it within 14 days without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The 14 days start on the day after the contract is made.
To cancel, tell us clearly in writing, by email to info@kandbscreeding.co.uk or by post to our registered office. You can ask us for the model cancellation form, but you do not have to use it.
We will not start work within the 14 days unless you ask us to. If you ask us to start sooner and then cancel within the 14 days, you will need to pay for the work and materials provided up to the time you tell us you are cancelling.
If you cancel, we will refund any payment you have made for work not carried out within 14 days, using the same payment method unless you agree otherwise.
Our work and putting things right
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, using materials of satisfactory quality that suit the job described in your quotation.
If you think something is not right with our work, please tell us as soon as possible, by phone on 07466 650936 or by email to info@kandbscreeding.co.uk, with photos if you can. We will look at it and, where the problem is in our work, put it right at no extra cost.
If you are a consumer, you also have the remedies the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you for a service that is not carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Our responsibility for loss or damage
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breach of your legal rights as a consumer.
If you are a business customer, any further limits on liability are those set out in your quotation or in the contract we have agreed with you.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with anything we have done, please contact our director, Donatas Bardisevicius, by phone on 07466 650936, by email to info@kandbscreeding.co.uk or by post to our registered office. Tell us what happened and how you would like it put right. We will look into it and reply to you as quickly as we can.
Your information
We use your information only as set out in our privacy policy.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your home courts.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your job is the one in force when you accepted our quotation.
