Getting the pump to the room in Nuneaton
Every liquid floor travels from the mixer to your room down a hose. That makes the route from the road to the floor the first thing to plan, not an afterthought on the morning of the pour.
Whether the house is in Whitestone, Weddington, Horeston Grange or St Nicolas Park, the same questions apply. Where can the truck and pump stand? How far is it to the door, and is there a side passage, a garden gate or a hallway the hose has to follow? Are there parking restrictions on the day? A driveway close to the front door makes all of this simple. A terrace with on-street parking can still be pumped, but the hose route and the vehicle position need agreeing beforehand.
Flats are 12% of Nuneaton's homes, and an upstairs pour raises different questions: lift or stair access for the hose, protection for common areas and the floors below, and whether the block's managing agent needs notice. A pumped screed handles upper floors well because nobody has to carry barrows of material up the stairs.
The pump and the people running it are ours. We do not hire out pumps or machines, so the price you get covers the whole pour rather than equipment alone. Our screed pumping service page covers the pumping side in more detail. Sending a photo of the frontage with your enquiry is the quickest way to settle the access plan.
Depth, flatness and drying for Nuneaton floors
Floated over insulation, a liquid floor in a Nuneaton home starts at roughly 35mm deep, while shops and other commercial spaces start at roughly 40mm. Where heating pipes sit underneath, at least 25mm has to cover them, so the total tends to land at 45 to 50mm. A floor that levels itself can reach SR1 or SR2 regularity without much fuss, and that flatness is what LVT, big format tiles and engineered boards ask for.
Some liquid mixes use a calcium sulphate binder and others a cement one. Which one goes in depends on the finish and on any chance of the floor getting wet, and the calcium sulphate side is set out on our anhydrite flow screed page for Nuneaton.
Walking across it after a day or two and laying the floor covering are two very different milestones. Allow about a day per millimetre up to 40mm, then longer for each millimetre beyond, so a 50mm floor is weeks away from its finish unless the heating is brought in to help it along. The full timetable is in our screed drying guide, and if you have not settled on a material yet, our liquid versus sand and cement comparison lays out the choice.
