Which screed fits which Nuneaton home
Census 2021 recorded 88,818 people in the Nuneaton built-up area, and their homes run from houses built before 1919 to estates finished in the last few years. Which of those you own decides the screed.
The 1950s council-built houses at Camp Hill and similar post-war semis tend to bring rear extensions, and that work usually raises two floor questions at once. The new room needs a screed, and the old floor beside it often needs flattening so a single finish can run through. A wide, open extension suits pumped liquid screed for Nuneaton extensions, while the original floor can often be brought true with self levelling compound rather than replaced.
Older terraced houses are a different job. Their ground floors are often solid with no damp proof membrane underneath, so a renovation starts by breaking the slab out, then laying a membrane and insulation before the new screed goes in. Where the rooms are small and the doorways tight, mixing on site and laying a sand and cement floor by hand makes more sense than threading a hose through the house.
On Nuneaton's newer private estates, an extension normally has to match the floor build-up of the original house, and liquid screed over underfloor heating is the usual way to do it. Pipe cover and finished floor height come first there, and our page on screed over Nuneaton underfloor heating explains both. If the drawings for a new build call for a calcium sulphate grade, read the anhydrite flow screed page before booking, as that choice changes how the floor dries and whether it needs sanding.
Whatever the route, the first two questions are when the house was built and what sits under the floor now.

Planning a pour in Nuneaton, from driveway to Bermuda Park
The date of a screed pour is set by the trades around it. In a Nuneaton extension that means the roof and glazing keeping the rain off, the plastering on the walls finished and the heating loops already pressure tested when our pump turns up. How long the floor then sits drying turns on its depth and the material, which is why the tiler's booking should be fixed after our date, never ahead of it.
Access comes next. The mixer and pump have to park somewhere their hose can stretch to your front or back door. A driveway makes that easy. A terraced street with permit parking or a shared alley needs more thought, so mention any restrictions when you send the details and the hose route can be planned in advance.
Commercial floors are their own category. Bermuda Park, beside the A444, mixes logistics and distribution with a cinema, a bowling alley and restaurants, and warehouse slabs and leisure fit-outs of that kind are typical settings for concrete repair, grinding and high strength screed. Slab work of that sort sits with our screeding for commercial units.
In the centre, which Frederick Gibberd's post-war masterplan reshaped and where the Ropewalk Shopping Centre opened in 2005, a retail refit generally needs a flat, smooth base for new flooring rather than a full new screed.
