Which screed fits which part of Hinckley
Census 2021 recorded 50,729 people in the Hinckley built-up area, living between the old centre, the suburbs that ring it and Burbage and Sketchley to the south. The right floor depends less on the address than on the age of the building and what is happening to it.
Suburbs such as Hollycroft, Middlefield, Wykin, Forest View and Saxon Paddock ring the old centre, with Sketchley Old Village on the southern side. Where a Hinckley house has an old solid floor that has cracked, or one laid with no damp protection, it normally has to come up so insulation and a membrane can go in under a hand compacted sand and cement screed for older floors. It copes with small rooms, awkward thresholds and bathrooms where a calcium sulphate product would be the wrong choice.
On the newer edges of Burbage, homes are more often built around wet underfloor heating. A pumped liquid screed for open floors suits that kind of plot because it flows round the pipes and keeps the pour shallower than a traditional mix. If heating is the main reason for the new floor, read about screeding over underfloor heating first, since pipe cover and the heat-up programme matter more than the name on the delivery ticket.
Some drawings name a calcium sulphate grade rather than simply asking for liquid screed, which changes how the floor is sanded and tested before flooring. A floor that is sound but uneven may not need replacing at all: levelling compound before new flooring brings it flat for LVT, tiles or engineered wood.

Pour dates, parking and business units in Hinckley
Your pour date hangs on the trades before and after it, because screeding falls halfway through a build. Before we pump or lay anything, the roof and windows need to be on, the wet plaster done and any heating pipes pressure tested. Flooring then waits for the screed to dry, which takes weeks rather than days on a thick floor. Put the tiler and the kitchen fitter after the screed in the programme, never before it.
Access decides how a pumped pour is set up. The mixer and pump stand outside, as close to the door as the road allows, and the hose runs in through the house. A driveway makes that simple. Where the lorry has to stop on a street near the town centre or The Crescent, tell us about parking bays, restrictions or a shared entry when you ask for a price.
Hinckley also has a large employment area. Hinckley Business Park on Brindley Road sits in the employment area west of the centre, close to the A5, while Harrowbrook, Logix Park, Greenfields Business Park and Sketchley Meadows on the Sketchley Lane Industrial Estate add warehouse and light industrial units. Warehouse and light industrial floors like these typically need high strength or fibre reinforced screed or floor grinding, and our commercial screeding service covers that work.
