Warehouse floors off Castleman Way and Crow Lane
Crow Arch Lane Industrial Estate is reached off Castleman Way, roughly a mile from the A31. A warehouse floor in use since the late 1970s can carry worn paint, failed coatings, marked out walkways and patches that sit higher than the slab around them. Before a fit-out for offices, a trade counter or storage, that surface needs taking back.
Grinding does it in thin passes. Rotating diamond heads cut away coatings and contamination and take down ridges, trowel marks and the lips between concrete bays that pallet trucks and trolleys catch on. The result is clean, open concrete ready for primer and compound, a fresh screed or new flooring. Where the client wants a resin finish, we hand the prepared slab over to the resin contractor; resin and polished concrete are not part of what we lay.
On Crow Lane close by, Platinum Jubilee Business Park is a newer development of 3.59 acres, with industrial and warehouse units that include offices. Even a recent slab can have high spots and bay joints that would show through LVT or carpet tiles in the office areas, and a light grind before levelling compound sorts them out.
Where a warehouse slab is cracked, spalled or hollow rather than just worn, concrete floor repair comes first. For big areas or thick coatings, shot blasting or scarifying may be quicker, and those sit under floor preparation. We bring our own machines and tooling and do not sell or hire them out.
Extensions, garages and old adhesive in Ringwood homes
Homes in Poulner and the suburbs around the centre, largely built after 1945, bring smaller grinding jobs. When a ground floor extension or conservatory replacement goes on, its new slab rarely finishes at exactly the height of the old one, and a lip runs along the line where they meet. Grinding takes the high side down so compound or flooring can run across without a ridge. Lifting old carpet or vinyl from a solid floor can also reveal hard adhesive or paint, which grinding clears back to clean concrete.
Garages are the other domestic case, whether they stay as garages or become rooms. Oil stains and paint are ground off before a screed or compound goes on.
Dust is controlled at every stage. Slabs, screeds and tiles all hold silica, and grinding them puts respirable crystalline silica into the air as a fine dust, so our machines always run with extraction and we seal the work area off from the rest of the house.
Grinding has limits. It flattens local high spots but cannot correct a floor that falls or sags over a wide area; then we grind the peaks and level or screed the remainder. Over-grinding a thin screed risks leaving it under its minimum depth, so we check the depth first. For a job a few miles away, see concrete floor grinding in Ferndown.
