Liquid Screed in Bognor Regis

We pump liquid screed into homes across Bognor Regis, from new extensions and open-plan kitchens to apartment floors. Flats are a big part of the town, at 25% of homes, and a pumped screed is the practical way to cover a floor two or three storeys up, because the hose does the carrying. The same speed helps on wide ground floors in detached houses.

Pumping a flowing screed to flats in Bognor Regis

On a flat, the hardest part of laying a floor is getting the material there. A sand and cement screed has to be barrowed or bucketed up the stairs. A liquid screed does not. With the pump parked on the street, we run the hose up the stairs or in at a window and let the screed spread out over the prepared floor.

Once it is down, it levels itself. A liquid screed finds a flat surface without being compacted, and SR1 or SR2 regularity under a 2m straightedge is readily achievable, which suits LVT and large tiles. It wraps heating pipes completely without leaving voids, and because it hardly shrinks, an open-plan flat needs far fewer joints than one screeded by hand.

Floating on insulation, it goes down from about 35mm in a flat or house, or 40mm in commercial space. You can usually cross it after 24 to 48 hours, but flooring waits longer, since drying takes about a day per mm through the first 40mm and slows for any extra depth.

Liquid screed is made with either a calcium sulphate or a cement binder, and the room it is going into settles the choice. Bathrooms and other wet areas need the cement type. For a direct comparison with the traditional method, read our guide on liquid screed vs sand and cement. If you need the pump service on its own, see screed pumping.

Newer Bognor Regis homes and wide ground floors

Some 14% of Bognor Regis homes were built from 2000 onwards. Where a newer house already has a flowing screed, an extension or a knock-through can often continue in the same material, which keeps depth and drying consistent.

On a ground floor, the pump can stand on the drive or roadside with a short hose run. In practice the limits are the street and the route through the house. A side passage, a gate or a long garden can all be managed with enough hose, but we need to know about them when pricing.

Preparation is what makes a liquid pour work. Insulation boards are laid tight, a membrane is lapped and taped at every joint and dressed up the walls, and an edge strip goes round the perimeter. Any gap will let screed run under the insulation and lift the boards, so we walk the whole floor and check every joint before the pump starts.

FAQs

Liquid Screed in Bognor Regis: your questions

Can liquid screed be poured in one day in a Bognor Regis flat?

On most flats, yes. A pumped screed covers large areas in a day, so a typical apartment floor is poured in a single visit. Preparation of the insulation, membrane and edge strip comes first. You will need to agree access with the building manager and keep other trades off the floor for at least a day.

How flat is a liquid screed floor?

Under BS 8204 it can readily reach SR1 or SR2. Lay a 2m straightedge on an SR1 floor and no gap should exceed 3mm; on SR2 the limit is 5mm. That is flat enough for most tiles, LVT and engineered wood without further levelling, provided the laitance is dealt with where the screed is calcium sulphate.

Does liquid screed cost more than sand and cement in Bognor Regis?

Per m² it usually does. On 2026 UK published rates, sand and cement sits at £18 to £25 per m² and liquid at £24 to £31. On a large or upstairs floor the faster pour and thinner build-up can narrow the gap. Your fixed written price arrives within 24 hours.
