Floor levelling for Dunsbury Park and Meridian Shopping refits
Dunsbury Park is a 100 acre business park beside the A3(M) and a tax site within the Solent Freeport, with manufacturing and logistics units from 20,000 to 200,000 sq ft. Occupiers include FatFace's head office and DPD. A head office fit-out, or a shop refit around Meridian Shopping and West Street, is where levelling compound earns its place, because a new finish shows every dip in the base beneath.
For a fit-out at Dunsbury Park or along West Street, BS 8204 grades the floor by the largest gap under a 2m straightedge: a 3mm gap passes SR1, 5mm passes SR2 and 10mm passes SR3. Many thin sheet finishes demand SR1, so a floor that passed under carpet tiles can fail under vinyl.
Our compound goes on thin: a typical range is 2mm up to 10mm, and only certain products can be poured deeper. Compound fails if it does not stick, so we clean the base and choose a primer for whatever is there: concrete, cement screed, calcium sulphate or old adhesive from the last floor. We use quick drying products so the fit-out does not stall and the flooring team can get in soon after.
The big logistics floors at Dunsbury Park are another story. Compound only finishes a surface; structural power floated slabs, resin and polished concrete are outside what we do. Worn or damaged slabs need concrete floor grinding or concrete floor repair first, and larger new floors come under our commercial screeding service.
Levelling Havant homes before new flooring goes down
At home, levelling is usually part of a refit. Owners of Havant's post-war houses replacing carpet with LVT or engineered wood can find that an old concrete floor has dips and ridges nobody noticed before. A thin compound over the right primer fixes that without the weeks of drying a new screed needs.
Flats make up 20% of Havant homes, and in a flat the new floor has to be made flat without raising it against doors and thresholds. A few millimetres of compound is often enough, and we measure door clearances before the pour.
The limit is being honest about the base. Compound poured deep over a floor that is loose, hollow or cracked can crack and debond. When a post-war floor is past that point, the lasting fix is a new screed, and sand and cement relays for Havant floors explains how that works. If a sound floor needs just a few millimetres, compound beats a relay on time and cost, and your fitter is in much earlier. Our levelling service reaches neighbouring Emsworth as well, about 2 miles away.
