Which screed fits which kind of Brentwood home
Begin with the house you own rather than with a product name. Across Hutton, Shenfield and Warley, the post-war detached houses and semis tend to be extended, remodelled or knocked through, and plenty of owners use the moment to put heating under the whole ground floor with a new liquid screed on top. If that is your project, read about heated floor screeds for Brentwood homes, which deals with pipe cover and the first warm-up.
A rear extension without heating, or a kitchen and dining room opened into one, still gains from a pumped floor. A Brentwood liquid screed pour leaves the surface flat and dense, and people can walk on it after 24 to 48 hours.
Victorian houses in the town centre call for another approach. Their old solid floors may have to be broken out and relaid over a proper damp proof membrane, and hand-laid sand and cement suits those smaller rooms, hallways and anything that will get wet.
Then there are flats. Around the stations, converted houses and newly built apartment blocks have to meet acoustic screed requirements, so what lies under the pour matters every bit as much as the pour, and a designer may have named one calcium sulphate grade on the drawings.
Not every Brentwood floor has to come up, though. If the slab is sound and merely uneven, compound levelling before LVT or tiles gets it ready far quicker than a fresh screed would.

Timing a pour and parking a pump in Brentwood
Your screed sits between other trades, so book it with them in mind. We need the house weathertight first, with roof and glazing in, the wet plaster finished and any heating pipework already proved under pressure. After the pour, the floor has to dry for a period set by its depth and material, so pencil in the flooring fitter once the screed date is fixed, never the other way round. On an extension, settle that order with the builder at the outset.
On pour day our lorry and pump have to get close enough to your front door for the hose to reach. A driveway makes this easy. Streets near the town centre can have parking restrictions or tight access, so mention any when you request a quote and we will plan the day around them.
On the commercial side, Brentwood has two big sites. Brentwood Enterprise Park, next to junction 29 of the M25, has consent for over 112,000 square metres of industrial and office floor space, while Childerditch Industrial Park spreads across 42.75 acres beside the A127. Fresh units and changes of tenant there mean warehouse floors, office fit-outs and patching of worn slabs, all handled by our commercial floor screeding team.
