Which screed fits which kind of Totton home
Census 2021 recorded 28,093 people living in the Totton built-up area, and houses, not flats, are home to most of them. More of today's homes date from 1973 to 1999 than from any other period, 39% in all. Under a house from those years there is normally a solid ground floor in decent condition, so a new screed tends to follow a change you are making to the house, not a floor that has given up.
From there, a Totton job usually goes one of three ways.
First, the inter-war semis. A lot of them were built with suspended timber ground floors. Take out the boards and joists and the normal replacement is an insulated slab with screed on top, and where the ground floor is split into small rooms with several doorways, hand-laid sand and cement over a dug-out floor tends to be the sensible finish.
Second, the later houses that gain a rear extension or have the kitchen and dining room opened into one space. That sort of broad floor is where liquid screed pumped in from the road earns its keep. Adding heating pipes as well? Look at heated floor screed for Totton homes before settling on a product: the depth over the pipes and how the floor is first warmed count for more than whose name is on the delivery note.
Third, floors that are solid but out of true. In plenty of the older terraces, smoothing the old floor with compound before the new flooring is all that is needed, and it costs less and takes less time than screeding again.

Timing, access and parking for a Totton pour
On a building programme, the screeder slots in between two groups of trades. The roof, windows and doors need to be keeping the rain out and the plasterers need to have finished their wet work before we pour; the kitchen fitter, tiler and floor layer all follow us. If you have heating pipes, your engineer lays them and pressure tests them before our date. Pencil us in early and confirm once the windows are fitted, so the drying period is not what gets cut when the programme slips.
Then think about how we reach the room. A pumped floor means parking the mixer and pump within a hose length of your door, which is no trouble with a driveway. Near the shopping parades in the old centres of Testwood, Calmore and Hammond's Green, or along a terraced street, mention any parking limits or narrow side passages in your enquiry. Postcodes here include SO40, and Eling, Hounsdown, Rushington, Foxhills and Brokenford are all part of the area we cover.
Calmore Industrial Estate, by the junction of Brunel Road and the A36 Salisbury Road, is a different kind of enquiry. It takes in South Hampshire Industrial Park, and its steel portal frame units are the sort of buildings that need floor repairs or a new screed when a tenant changes. Our screeding for commercial units runs from patching a damaged area to laying a fresh wearing screed.
