Which screed fits which Warminster home
Census 2021 counted 18,018 people in the Warminster built-up area. Their floors sort into three rough groups.
Post-war housing is the biggest. Homes put up between 1945 and 1972 come to 33% of the stock, with a similar share added in the decades after. With a semi of that vintage, the call is usually about one of two things: a floor for a rear extension or garage conversion, or a ground floor screed that has cracked or given up. Where the extension is wide and open, liquid screed pumped through a hose suits it well. Where a worn hallway or small kitchen floor is being dug out and replaced, it is usually simpler to relay it by hand in traditional sand and cement.
Then there is the historic town around Portway House and the Minster Church of St Denys. Older properties there can need damp proofing and a brand new solid floor before a refurbishment can go ahead, so the job starts from bare ground: insulation, a membrane, then the screed.
The last group is still on paper. Outline consent is in place for up to 1,000 homes on the West Warminster Urban Extension, and houses like those are normally drawn up with screed over underfloor heating on every plot.
We also cover the suburbs that have grown over the old hamlets of Bugley and Boreham. Whichever part of town you are in, start by telling us when the house was built and what the floor is sitting on now.

Planning a Warminster pour around the other trades
Screed is a wet trade that arrives mid-build, so timing it right saves trouble. Before we pour, the house wants a roof, fitted windows and outside doors, and the wet plastering out of the way. Any heating pipes need to be down and pressure tested beforehand too. Drying afterwards comes down to how deep the floor is and what it is made of, so fix the flooring fitter's date once the screed date is known, not before.
On the day itself, access counts. The pump and mixer have to sit close enough to a door for the hose to reach. With a driveway that is easy. On a terraced street they may end up on the road, so let us know about restrictions or shared passageways at the quoting stage.
If a plot on the urban extension calls for calcium sulphate, our anhydrite flow screed page for Warminster covers grades, sanding and moisture testing.
Commercial units are another matter. Crusader Park, close to where the A36 meets the A350, is a Principal Employment Area beside Warminster Business Park and its light industrial and warehouse units. When a tenant moves on, the floor may need repairs, grinding or a new wearing screed, which falls under our commercial screeding work. About 5.6 hectares of employment land is planned to the west, so more new industrial floors are likely.
