Which screed fits which Aldershot home
Census 2021 recorded 39,827 people in the Aldershot built-up area, in homes that range from pre-1919 terraces to new build streets. Knowing which of those you live in is the first step in choosing a screed.
The pre-1919 terraces from the garrison years often have solid ground floors laid with no damp proof membrane. Renovating a floor like that normally means digging it out, putting in insulation and a membrane, then screeding over the top. In small rooms with awkward thresholds that is often a job for hand-laid sand and cement screed in Aldershot, though a flowing screed can work where the space is open enough.
Semi-detached houses from the middle of the twentieth century are where kitchen and rear extensions tend to happen. A wide new floor like that suits a pumped liquid screed for extensions, especially when the old and new rooms are being opened into one.
Aldershot has plenty of flats as well. With 33% of Aldershot homes being flats of one kind or another, many floors are reached by a hose run up a stairwell rather than from a driveway.
At Wellesley, the Aldershot Urban Extension on former military land, historic buildings including the Cambridge Military Hospital are being converted to homes next to new build streets. That mix brings both underfloor heating screed in the new houses and levelling inside converted buildings, where old floors are rarely flat enough for modern finishes.

Planning a pour around an Aldershot build programme
Your screed date hangs on the trades before and after it, because the floor goes in partway through the build. We need the windows and outside doors in, so rain cannot reach the floor. Get the plasterer finished first, and if there is underfloor heating, the engineer should have the pipes down and tested under pressure before we arrive. How long it then takes to dry comes down to how deep it is and what it is made of, so fix the flooring fitter's date once the screed is booked, not before.
Then there is getting to the room. If we are pumping, the truck and pump need a spot near enough that our hose can get into the house. Terraced streets can be tight, so tell us about parking, shared alleys or upper floors when you ask for a price. We cover the whole town, including North Town and Montgomery Lines, and postcodes here include GU11 and GU12.
Aldershot also has plenty of commercial floor space. Blackwater Valley Industrial Park, within half a mile of the A331, is the principal industrial estate, with more units on Blackwater Way, while Westgate Leisure Park and Union Yard bring retail and leisure floors into the centre. Unit floors that need a new wearing screed or repairs when a tenant changes come under our commercial screeding work.
