Where pumped liquid screed fits in Haywards Heath
Big open rooms are where a pumped floor pays off. An open-plan kitchen and family room in a Haywards Heath extension is the classic example: one continuous pour, no hand-tamped bays and very few joints, because the material shrinks so little as it dries.
The town's newer housing points the same way. 16% of homes were built in 2015 or later, and houses from the past two decades, including those at Bolnore Village, tend to need extensions that tie into an existing screed. Matching a level exactly is easier with a material that self-levels to a laser-set height than with one screeded by eye.
You can have it calcium sulphate or cement based; the two go through the pump and spread across the room in much the same way. Which one suits depends on the finish going on top and whether the area could get wet, and we will say which in the quote.
Depth is where liquid screed saves height. A floating domestic floor can start at about 35mm, against 65mm for sand and cement, and 40mm is the usual minimum on commercial floors. Laid well, it reaches SR1 or SR2 when checked with a 2m straightedge, flat enough for LVT or big format tiles. Getting the pump to the room in Haywards Heath
On the day, our mixer and pump have to stand within hose reach of the room being poured. On a house with a drive in Haywards Heath that is straightforward. A terrace with no front parking, or a flat several storeys up, takes more planning: the hose can run through a hallway or up a stairwell, protected as it goes, but we need to know the route and the parking situation before the day.
When you ask for a quote, let us know which storey the room is on, how far it is from the kerb and whether parking is restricted outside. Our page on pumping screed into awkward spaces explains how the line is set out.
You can usually step on the new floor after 24 to 48 hours, though it is still a long way from dry. Allow roughly one day for each millimetre up to 40mm and longer for every millimetre past that, so a 50mm floor in a Haywards Heath extension can need well over a month before most floor coverings go down, unless it is force dried. The screed drying time guide covers testing and what speeds it up.
