Screeding in Woking

From a Sheerwater kitchen to a Victoria Square flat, we put down Woking floors in pumped liquid, sand and cement or over heating pipes, and level ones that only need flattening. The town lies south-south-east of our Slough yard, about 15.2 miles off in a straight line. The fact that shapes the choice here is the mix of homes: 29% of them are flats, so a job can be a ground floor slab in a family house or an upper floor in a town centre block, and each calls for a different approach.

Which screed suits which part of Woking

Census 2021 counted 75,655 people in the Woking built-up area. The modern town only began in the mid-1860s, after the London Necropolis Company sold surplus land near the station, and post-war building defines much of what stands today. That history is a useful guide to the floor you are likely to find.

At Sheerwater, the London County Council built nearly 1,300 homes in the early 1950s, and repairs to those houses are part of the regeneration approved in 2017. When one of those 1950s solid floors gives up, it is dug out and rebuilt, and hand-laid sand and cement handles their compact rooms, door thresholds and bathrooms without fuss.

Council housing followed at Goldsworth Park, and the 1970s Lakeview scheme covered 20 hectares. Extending a later house often produces one wide kitchen and living space, which is where pumped liquid screed earns its place. A heated extension adds its own rules on pipe cover and warm-up, set out on our underfloor heating screed page.

The town centre is different again. Victoria Square, completed in 2022, added two residential towers, and conversions such as Gresham Mill, the former Unwins print works, bring acoustic and levelling requirements. New flats like these often come with a calcium sulphate grade printed on the plans, and our Woking anhydrite page decodes those letters. If a converted flat has a solid floor that is simply uneven, a coat of levelling compound can put it right with no new screed at all.

Access, parking and timing a pour in Woking

We cover the whole borough area, including Horsell, Knaphill, St John's, Hook Heath, Mayford, Westfield, Kingfield, Maybury, Mount Hermon and Old Woking, along with Brookwood, Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford. Postcodes here include GU21 and GU22.

A screed fits into the middle of a build. Before we pour, the building wants closing in with its windows and outside doors fitted, the plasterers gone, and any heating loops down and holding pressure. Book your tiler or floor fitter once the screed date is fixed, since fresh screed has to dry out before tiles, timber or vinyl can go on it.

Getting the kit close is the other practical point. Off-road parking at the front means the mixer can be set up right outside. A flat in a central block may need a loading bay, a booked lift or permission from a managing agent, so mention those when you ask for a price.

At the south-western end of Sheerwater, Kingswey Business Park, split into Optimum Park and Genesis Park, and Woking Business Park hold trade, distribution, research and industrial units. On those parks, a warehouse or workshop floor usually needs its concrete repaired or ground, or a high strength screed laid over it, all handled by our commercial floor team.

FAQs

Screeding in Woking: your questions

Who lays floor screed in Woking?

K & B Screeding lays floor screed across Woking and its villages, from Knaphill to Pyrford. That covers pumped liquid floors, hand-laid sand and cement, screeds over wet heating pipes and calcium sulphate flow screed, as well as compound to flatten a floor that is already there. The people who turn up are our own crew, the figure is agreed in writing up front and does not move, and we ring you back on the day you make contact.

How much does floor screeding cost in Woking?

Published UK rates for 2026 give a starting point: pumped liquid comes in at £24 to £31 per m², and hand-laid sand and cement lower, at £18 to £25. A Woking quote moves with the floor size, how deep the screed goes, how easily we reach the room and if the job takes in insulation and a membrane underneath. Tell us about the room and a fixed figure comes back in writing inside 24 hours.

Do you also cover Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford?

Yes. Byfleet and West Byfleet sit within Woking, and Pyrford, Brookwood and Mayford are part of the same patch even though each keeps its own identity. The same services and the same fixed pricing apply across all of them, so the process is no different whether the floor is in the town centre or out in one of the villages.
