From Oatlands to St George's Hill: picking a Weybridge screed
Census 2021 counted 15,918 people in the Weybridge built-up area. Bands F to H account for 41% of homes here. The building stock, though, spans almost two centuries, and the floor answer changes with it.
Oatlands grew after the Duke of York sold Oatlands Park in 1824, and most of the village was complete by 1859. Its 19th century houses often have older floors without membranes, which need replacing during a renovation. The usual approach is to dig out, insulate, add a membrane and lay a hand-placed sand and cement screed for older floors.
St George's Hill sits at the other end of the scale. W. G. Tarrant bought 936 acres in 1911 to create it, with a minimum plot size of one acre. Detached areas like this bring large projects: big extensions and whole ground floors of underfloor heating. Those are covered on our Weybridge underfloor heating screed page. Pumped liquid screed in Weybridge is the usual material for floors that size, with a specified calcium sulphate flow screed where the drawings name a grade.
After the war, the Weybridge and Walton council built more than 1,000 houses across the two towns. Extensions and refits on those homes follow the same logic: a new open floor suits a pumped screed, a small wet room suits a hand-laid one.
Flats, offices and showrooms usually need the existing floor made flat rather than replaced, which is what Weybridge floor levelling is for.

Planning a pour on Weybridge's larger plots
We cover the whole of Weybridge, including Oatlands, Oatlands Park, St George's Hill and the Brooklands area. Postcodes here include KT13.
The practical issue on large plots is distance from the road to the room. A minimum plot size of one acre on St George's Hill means a pump may be parked a long way from the house, so hose length is measured when we price. Drives, gates and gardens along the route are protected. On streets where the lorry has to park at the kerb, the space for the mixer and pump is agreed in advance.
Timing is the other question. We pour when the house is closed against the weather, with insulation and membrane down and the heating loops already tested. On a whole heated ground floor, that pour is a fixed point in the programme: everything after it, from the first heat-up to the moisture test and flooring, runs on from that date. Give the first 40mm something like a day for every millimetre to dry, and more than that per millimetre beyond.
If you are planning the build-up beneath the screed as well, our insulation and membranes service supplies and lays it, so one team owns the whole floor.
