Which screed suits which part of Eastbourne
Much of the centre was laid out as a planned resort from 1859, and Sovereign Harbour is the largest recent addition. Homes from those different periods tend to need different kinds of floor.
In Meads and Upperton, large Victorian villas have been split into flats. Floors there often sit on old timber that is far from flat, and any new floor between two homes has to hold back sound as well as look level. An acoustic build-up finished with a thin levelling layer is the usual answer, and our floor levelling service in Eastbourne covers the smoothing side of that work.
Semis and terraces in Hampden Park and Langney are more likely to be gaining a kitchen extension or a converted garage. The new floor has to meet the existing slab at exactly the right height, so its depth is worked out from the old floor rather than from the drawings alone. Wide, open extension floors suit pumped liquid screed, while a single garage or a small utility is often simpler in hand-laid sand and cement.
At Sovereign Harbour, the apartments and townhouses are recent enough that whole floors are rarely replaced. They are more likely to need a patch repair to damaged screed, or a levelling layer before new flooring over heating that is already in place. Anyone building a heated floor from scratch elsewhere in Eastbourne can find pipe depths and the first switch-on date under heated floor screeding.
Some drawings name a calcium sulphate grade outright. What that grade means for sanding and moisture testing is set out on the Eastbourne anhydrite flow screed page.

Pump access, parking and timing a pour in Eastbourne
For a liquid pour, the mixer and pump park outside and the hose has to stretch from there to your room. Off-road parking on a drive solves that. A flat in one of the split Meads or Upperton villas is less simple, as the hose may climb a communal stair or cross a shared hall, so mention the floor level, the route in and any parking restrictions on the street when you ask for a price. Upper floors are pumped from the road, which is one reason liquid screed suits them.
The date matters too. Hold the pour until the room is closed to the weather, the plasterer has finished and any heating circuit has passed its pressure test. Tiles, LVT and timber then wait while the screed dries, so the kitchen fitter's start date should follow the screed date, not lead it.
Warehouse and trade units are different work again. The Lottbridge Drove commercial area covers about 120 acres of industrial, warehouse, trade counter and retail units, including Hammonds Drive Industrial Estate and the Admiral Retail Park. Units like these need hard wearing floors, repairs to worn concrete and levelling before a new tenant fits out, which is the work of our commercial screeding service.
