Screeding in Peacehaven

Whatever a Peacehaven floor needs, whether that is liquid, sand and cement, anhydrite or a screed over heating pipes, K & B Screeding can lay it, and we bring uneven floors level for new coverings. Much of that comes down to how the town was built. Charles Neville laid it out from 1916 on a grid, and the first homes, some made from old railway carriages or army huts, were replaced piece by piece. That history can leave floors at different levels in a single house. We are about 58.1 miles from our Slough base.

Bungalows, extensions and dormers on the Peacehaven grid

Census 2021 put the population of the Peacehaven built-up area at 15,705. Detached homes make up 37% of the town's housing, and most projects start from a post-war or late twentieth century bungalow or house on the grid of east to west Roads and north to south Avenues. That points to a fairly small set of floor jobs, and each one suits a different screed.

Dormer and loft conversions are one. Moving bedrooms upstairs frees the ground floor, and walls come out to make an open kitchen and living space. That new floor is often a patchwork of old rooms, and a pumped liquid screed across open ground floors gives one flat surface over the lot.

Wraparound extensions are another. Those cover a lot of ground, and if you want them heated, read up on how deep the screed must sit over the pipes and how the heating is first brought up on our page about heated floor screeding in Peacehaven.

Third on the list is the old concrete floor with no insulation under it. Replacing them means breaking out, laying insulation and a membrane, and screeding again; small rooms and wet areas like these usually take hand-laid sand and cement.

Finally, the plotland legacy. Where early dwellings were rebuilt in stages, one house can have floors at different heights, and bringing them together calls for levelling or a continuous screed across old and new parts. Our Peacehaven floor levelling page explains which applies.

Planning a pour on a Peacehaven Road or Avenue

The pour is booked around the build, not the other way round. On an extension or conversion the screed goes in once the structure is weathertight and the pipes, if any, are laid and tested, and before the kitchen, joinery and flooring. Leave room in the programme for drying: about a day per millimetre for the first 40mm, then slower, and longer again for a thick sand and cement floor.

Access is usually straightforward on a bungalow, because the rooms are on one level. For a liquid pour, the pump and mixer wait in the road while the hose comes in at the front door or along the side path. We agree where the lorry will stand before the day so the neighbours are not blocked in.

Peacehaven also has its commercial floors. Meridian Industrial Estate, next to the Meridian Centre and leisure centre about half a mile north of the A259 South Coast Road, has small industrial units on roads such as Greenwich Way and Newton Road. The district centre on Meridian Way is the focus of a planned Morrisons led redevelopment. Units, shops and offices need deeper screeds than homes, typically 75mm for sand and cement and 40mm for liquid, and our commercial screeding service covers how those are planned.

FAQs

Screeding in Peacehaven: your questions

How much does it cost to screed a bungalow floor in Peacehaven?

On MyJobQuote's August 2026 UK prices, a sand and cement floor runs £18 to £25 per m², and liquid £24 to £31 per m². A Peacehaven bungalow floor moves within those with depth, the amount of breaking out and whether there is heating. Tell us about the bungalow and a fixed price reaches you in writing inside a day.

Can you screed just one room of a Peacehaven house?

Yes. A single kitchen, bathroom or hallway is a normal job, and on a small area a hand-laid sand and cement screed is often the cost effective choice. Where the room has to meet an existing floor at a doorway, we set the level to match so there is no step for the flooring fitter to deal with afterwards.

Do you cover all of Peacehaven, including business units?

Yes. We cover homes across the town's Roads and Avenues, the area around Meridian Way, and the units on Meridian Industrial Estate, including those on Greenwich Way and Newton Road. Postcodes here include BN10. Every job is surveyed before it is priced, whether it is one room or a whole unit.
