Three kinds of floor across North and South Tidworth
North and South Tidworth were separate villages until they were combined as one parish in 2004, and the town on the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain now spans housing from the early 1900s to the last few years. Census 2021 counted 10,693 people in the Tidworth built-up area. For floor work, the homes fall into three broad groups.
The newer houses are the largest group. They typically have screeded floors over underfloor heating, and what they need is usually maintenance rather than replacement: a smooth, flat surface for new LVT or tiles, or a repair where a patch has cracked or been cut out. Those jobs belong on our floor levelling page for Tidworth and, where the heating is involved, the underfloor heating screed page.
The post-war semis and terraces are where bigger projects happen. Owners extend them, re-insulate them and relay their floors. A new extension with an open-plan kitchen suits pumped liquid screed, which flows flat and covers the whole floor in a visit.
The third group is in Faberstown, where Walter Faber began building houses in the early 1900s. Some of those houses may still sit on old solid floors that now need a membrane put in. That usually means breaking out the old floor and laying a new base with a hand-placed sand and cement screed in Tidworth.
Which group a house belongs to is the first question we ask when pricing.

Booking a pour in Tidworth around the build
The day we pour depends on the other trades on the job. By pour day, glazing and outside doors need to be in so the weather stays out, the plastering wants to be complete, and your heating engineer should have laid and pressure tested any pipework. Then the new screed must dry out before any flooring is fitted, and how long that takes comes down to its depth and what it is made of. Booking the flooring fitter before the screed date is fixed often leads to a rushed floor.
Access matters for a pumped screed. The pump and mixer need to stand close to the house with the hose run inside, so let us know about parking, shared drives or a long route to the back of the house when you ask for a price. Postcodes here include SP9 and SP11.
Next door in Ludgershall, Castledown Business Park sits on part of the old Army depot and has industrial and trade units where floors are prepared, levelled and repaired. Trade unit floors like those are handled through our screeding for commercial premises.
